If you’re a reader of my friend, Julie’s, blog, then you know she posts this exact same post title just a few days ago (you can read her currently post here!). Call me a copycat, but I just love a fun currently themed post, so I’m snagging the topic and would love for you to play along in the comments with your own peek into what’s going on currently for you!
Currently Reading: Fiber Fueled by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz I am always drawn to books I can learn from over novels (unless it’s a Kristin Hannah book), and when Gina (from Running to the Kitchen) recommended this one, I hopped on over to Audible to buy it. I’m just getting started with it, but am already enjoying learning more about the power and intricacies of our gut microbiomes!
Currently in the Market for: curtains, rugs, and pillows. Something about the new house is making me feel free to experiment with décor. I want to make our new place feel like home, but don’t want to spend much. I dig the earthy, natural feel. Any recommendations on where to search? I also am scouring Facebook marketplace for a used Barbie Dreamhouse. The girls have been selling toys and saving money for one!
Currently Drinking: Coffee, a ton of tea, wellness shots, vodka + La Croix, and water. Not all at once, of course.
Currently Craving: A night out with David. Restaurants here are open, but I’m not wild at the idea of sitting inside them currently. Since it’s 190 degrees out lately, sitting outside doesn’t sound very appealing either. I just want to book a corner table at Kindred and indulge in courses of incredible food with a barkeep choice cocktail to go with it. But until then, we’ll save some bucks and eat homemade pizza on the couch. Not a bad consolation prize.
Currently Watching: David and I haven’t been able to find a good show for months. We re-watch an episode of Arrested Development before bed each night for a giggle, but every show we’ve tried has been pretty disappointing. If you have anything that can rival Game of Thrones, send it to your girl please!
Currently Anticipating: moving. Last week was really stressful because our buyers had to back out of our contract. I’m leaving details out because it’s a tough situation for all involved. We put our home back on the market last weekend and were back under contract by Monday. I’m incredibly grateful for that. We should be able to still work it out for the house we are purchasing, but it’s been a bit of a stressful situation. Looking forward to things running smoothly from here on out and getting settled in the new house by mid-August.
Currently Wishing for: I don’t mean for this to sound like a pageant answer, but I’m currently wishing for a world full of more kindness, love, compassion, and understanding. Luckily I find when I don’t read the news and concentrate on real people instead, I see a lot more of it.
Currently Indulging in: making boat reservations. With the anticipation of our move off the lake, we sold our boat and joined a local boat club. It gives us access to booking a wide variety of boats and though we’ve only been members a short time, we sure are enjoying trying out the different kinds of boats- tritoons, wake boats, speed boats, and more. The girls are also becoming quite the tube lovers!
Currently Feeling Blessed by: my community. I’ve been feeling really grateful for my family and my friends. I feel blessed at how much I’ve gotten to see family lately and blessed by great friends that are so much fun to talk to and be with. We all need community and I’m very grateful for mine, both in person and online.
Currently Pondering: which books we should line up for our fall read alouds. It is taking us a long time to get through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The girls and I are loving it, but it’s a longer read than the first three because I go slowly and use my best voices to keep Kaitlyn engaged and following along. After we finish this one, I want to move onto some shorter options. I took the quiz on the Read Aloud Revival website (an amazing resource!) and it suggested The Wild Robot. Anyone read that? What books have you read aloud with your kids and loved?
Currently Looking Forward to: seeing my family. We are planning on getting together soon on what would have been my Grandma Betty’s 100th birthday. We lost my grandma and my dad within a few months of each other and having that happen during a global pandemic is just salt in the wound. It feels incredibly hard to figure out a way to say goodbye or create some closure without the ability to travel much or hold a celebration of life ceremony.
In lieu of that, we are doing the best we can and having a (very) small gathering (just my immediate family plus my aunt and cousin) at mom and dad’s house to celebrate Grandma Betty in a way that would suit her best- a vodka drink, chips and onion dip, a giant Swiss cheese, card playing (she was a life master of bridge), and being together sharing our favorite memories of happy times.
Share with me! What’s current for you?
Are you reading a great book? Eating something delicious? Anticipating something?
